Meet Astronaut Terry Wilcutt

Wilcutt piloted Space Shuttle missions STS-68 and STS-79, and commanded STS-89 and STS-106. With over 1,007 hours in space on 4 missions, Wilcutt has received the NASA Distinguished Service Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross. His worked on Space Shuttle Main Engine and External Tank issues, supporting launches and landings at Kennedy Space Center, and addressing technical issues for the Astronaut Office Operations Development Branch. He served as NASA Director of Operations at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Russia, Chief of the Astronaut Office Shuttle Operations Branch, and Manager of Safety & Mission Assurance for the Space Shuttle Program. Currently, Wilcutt serves as Director of the Safety and Mission Assurance Directorate at Johnson Space Center.
