(Cancelled) LSIC Maintenance and Repair for Sustainable Lunar Surface Infrastructure Workshop

Sep 3

Dear LSIC Community,

We want to provide you with an update regarding the upcoming Fall LSIC Meeting. We have made the difficult decision to cancel the Fall LSIC Meeting originally scheduled for November 5–6, 2025 at Georgia Tech. Refunds will be issued to the original payment method used at registration.

In the meantime, we will continue to hold our regularly scheduled virtual Capability Area meetings to maintain momentum and collaboration across the LSIC community.

The LSIC Community remains steadfast in our commitment and creativity. Together, we’ll continue sharing ideas and expertise that move us closer to our shared vision for sustainable lunar exploration and development. We look forward to seeing you in-person again at our 2026 Spring Meeting!

Previous Information:

The Lunar Maintenance and Repair Workshop aims to explore the critical role of maintenance and repair (M&R) in sustaining lunar infrastructure, such as lunar lander and rovers, while drawing lessons from extreme terrestrial environments.

The workshop will cover various M&R technologies, the design of maintainable systems, logistics and actionable practices for implementing repairability across the project lifecycle, as well as astronaut integration in early lunar operations.

Key themes include certification standards, repair vs. replace trade-offs, nuances between planned maintenance and responsive repair, and the role of M&R in enhancing system reliability.

This workshop is critical, as it provides a forum for addressing the unique challenges of lunar operations and fostering collaboration on solutions that ensure the longevity and functionality of lunar infrastructure, essential for long-term human presence on the Moon.
